  19. SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS:
  20.      IBM or compatable bios
  21.      80x86 or compatable CPU(8088,V20,80286,80386,ect.)

  29. SQWEZ v2.1 compresses all selected files to a single executable file
  30. or a .SQZ file. Decompression of .SQZ files is also supported..

  33. Files maybe selected by a command line argument or by running
  34. SQWEZ and using the user interface...

  41. options = /e = create a self expanding file
  42.       /s = create a .SQZ file
  43.       /u = uncompress a .SQZ file
  44.       /v = view files on a SQWEZ program (.SQZ or .EXE)
  45.       /? = mini help screen for SQWEZ

  60. You may enter as many arguments as your keyboard buffer will allow, but
  61. keep in mind the last argument must be the name you want to call the self
  62. expanding file. The .EXE or .SQZ extender on the last file argument is
  63. optional,if it is not added on, SQWEZ will automatically append it.
  64. If the last name is one that already exits in that directory, a warning will
  65. give you the option of OVERWRITING the file or ending the session.

  67. To uncompress , simply copy the .EXE to the desired location and run it..

  72. To use /v or /u  - enter SQWEZ the option and the file to be worked on...

  74. EXAMPLE:
  75.     SQWEZ /u myfile.exe    (this is to decompress a file)
  76.     or
  77.     c:\util\SQWEZ /v a:\mydir\myfile.sqz (this is to view a SQWEZed file)

  85. EXAMPLE of user interface:

  88. Just run SQWEZ (with no command line arguments) and a menu will allow you
  89. to select the files that are to be compressed.. Other options that are
  90. available in the user interface are :
  91.  
  92.       FILE ATTRIBUTES:
  93.  
  94.               Allows selection of directory,archive,hidden,system
  95.               and normal files to be selected and compressed.

  97.       SIZE/SPEED     :
  98.  
  99.               A smaller value gives tighter compression , a larger
  100.               value favors compression speed.. A value in the
  101.               middle (10) gives the best balance of size and speed.

  103.       MARK FILES     :
  104.  
  105.               Enter the drive and or directory that you want to
  106.               view , to mark the files for compression.. You can
  107.               enter and leave this section as much as needed..
  108.               SQWEZ v2.1 keeps track of all files marked..

  111.       VIEW FILES     :
  112.  
  113.               All files that have been selected in "MARK FILES"
  114.               option will be displayed. Up and down arrow keys
  115.               will move through the list for a final inspection.
  116.               The SPACE BAR will mark any files that ARE NOT to
  117.               be SQWEZed.. The status bar at the bottom of the
  118.               view window will display SIZE/SPEED , FILE ATTRIBUTES,
  119.               total files selected and the output name.

  122.       OUTPUT FILE    :

  124.               Enter the filename that you want the self expanding
  125.               file to be called.If you wish to save it to a different
  126.               drive or directory , enter it at the prompt..

  130.               The .EXE or .SQZ extender does not need to be entered.
  131.               SQWEZ will append it if not present.

  133.       SQWEZ OPTIONS  :

  135.               MAKE .EXE FILE:

  138.               can be entered and SQWEZ will write a self expanding
  139.               single file.

  149.               expanding and will require SQWEZ v2.1 to decompress..

  154.               UNSQWEZ A FILE :
  155.               Allows decompression of .SQZ file format..
  156.               The destination of the files in the .SQZ file is
  157.               noted in the window...If this is not where you want
  158.               the files to be written , answer NO to the
  159.               "START EXPANDING" prompt and change to the desired
  160.               location...

  164.               VIEW A SQWEEZED FILE:
  165.               Enter a SQWEEZED .SQZ or .EXE file and all
  166.               files are displayed along with size , attributes
  167.               and CRC. The .EXE or .SQZ extension must be included
  168.               in the filename.

  176. SQWEZ (both command line and interface )does a CRC check on the original
  177. file before compressing and compares that with another check on the expanded
  178. file for data integrity. SQWEZ will alert you if the values do not match and
  179. give the option of continuing or ending the session..Also if there is another
  180. file with the same name in the directory it is expanding to, an alert will be
  181. given to OVERWRITE  the file or not.. SQWEZ may also be exited at any time
  182. by pressing Esc.

  187. USER HINTS:
  188.       The user interface and file marking scheme are very memory
  189.       intensive..If problems arise with memory shortage, use the
  190.       command line version to Sqwez files ..
